We like to have participants with different backgrounds, students are welcome as well as professionals. We like to have newcomers and experienced designers your interest about light and the pleasure to shape and create is what counts for us

 

Overview

As the lighting design workshops are a main part of the festival, there will be five workshops, each of whom designing a lighting installation.

The objective is to create conceptional designs for modern city lighting in public realm that offers a feel-good atmosphere for the visitors of KRONACH in lights. The aim is to create a new experience, to highlight the beauty of the town by exposing what stays unseen during the day and to reveal a new perspective. Or to create totally new hotspots.

The workshop week offers the participants the opportunity to dive into the world of lighting or deepen their knowledge of working with light. They can practice their skills and exchange their experience in an international team.

To give you an experienced partner each workshop group is guided by lighting design experts that co-create a full-scale lighting scenery, all participants are also accompanied by trained technical staff and supported by the KRONACH in lights Lighting Design Team.

Ideally, the acquired concepts can be used to create a modern and beautiful illumination of Kronach even beyond KRONACH in lights.

The workshops will be divided in a theoretical and a craft part. In the morning there will be design and planning sessions which end in concept presentations. In these there is room for discussion, swapping ideas, asking for advice and resolving questions. In the afternoon the craft part starts with technical instructions and until late night the participants will gain a lot of hands-on experience by building and testing settings in the streets of Kronach. Be sure to get your hands dirty, always under the slogan “work hard, play hard”.

Please note: There is no insurance for you from the event organization or the City of Kronach. You are responsible for your own insurance during this 5 day workshop.

 

Workshop fee

• Early bird registration before March 1st, 2020: 300 EUR
• Regular workshop fee: 350 EUR
• No VAT is added
• The fee includes the accommodation in a hostel with shared bedrooms, breakfast and dinner as well as snacks and hot drinks for the night
• Closing date: April 1st, 2020
• KRONACH in lights is member of the Erasmus+ support programme:
  So European students can ask their university to file an application with us. Then Erasmus+ will finance their workshop.
